One of my long time passions is food. What can I say, I’m Italian, it goes with the heritage! In my other life I had a restaurant where I was, indeed, the chef, the manager, the maitre d’, the sommelier… but also the janitor, the emergency dish-washer, the food shopper, the schlepper of boxes up and down the stairs to the storage room, the bookkeeper (this was the most boring part)… and so forth. When you own a business, especially a small restaurant, you take on every role in turn, depending what happens, who doesn’t show up, who doesn’t deliver when they were supposed to… The list is long.
I changed my life around about 10 years ago and returned to my original love: art and photography. But the love of food is still with me. How could it not be?! All those glorious flavors, textures, colors: a feast for all the senses.
I decided to put together a cookbook that blends the restaurant years and the recipes I developed during that time, with my photography work, and my new life in Hawaii. That’s slowly coming together, whenever my ‘real job’ (photography) allows me the time. But in the meantime I’ve created a blog all dedicated to my passion for food that laces in with my work as a photographer.
It’s fun, and it’s filling up with restaurant reviews, cool food discoveries, recipes, food events, tips and tricks, farmers’ markets and much more, all laced with glorious photos. It will become richer as time goes by, of course, but you can take a look at it by clicking here.
I’ve also created a Facebook page for it where the latest posts get streamed to, but where I also post announcements for last minute cool food events in Hawaii and beyond! Click here and LIKE the page to stay updated.
I hope you will enjoy browsing it as much as I’m enjoying creating it!
Happy food ride!
